Trip Report: | This time out we arrived late, hiked in about a mile and got ready for bed. Woke up and hit the trail first thing. Two weekends ago we did this trail, but sold our self short by thinking that the two very nice 15-30 foot waterfalls were the main attraction. This time we went on past these and foud our way to the Raven Cliff Falls. Out of no, it seems, appears the HUGE cliff face, rising about 300 feet. A large crevace in the claff face to the right is where you will find the falls. An extremely steep climb up to the right will take you up to the top of the cliff and give you a very interesting shop of the upper part of the falls, not visible from below. There are also so breath taking views from the cliff edge. The trails were wet from a recent rain, and if the conditions are similar to thisduring your visit, I would recommend EXTREME caution. Traffic was heavy with lots of people out on day hikes. TONS of dogs on the trails, which always makes my two hiking partners happy. We ran into a couple camping at the bottom of the falls that had two dogs that tried having my two pooches for lunch. Still not sure why people would take dogs they KNOW have aggresion problems into heavily traveled areas such as this. I love dogs and love to see dogs on the trail as mucha sanyone, but if he is out for blood, maybe you should consider leaving him at the house. We headed back to the truck and went just up the road, less than two miles, to the Duke's Creek Falls trail to get a shot at another 250+ feet waterfall. |
