Trip Report: | Due to parking-lot like conditions on the 605, I got to the park about 45 minutes later than I had hoped. I was trying to time the sunset with reaching the peak but instead I had to rush up and quickly make my way back down. The park closes at dusk, and I didn't want to hop a fence to get out. It was 1 hour 30minutes up with a stop by the waterfall (1/4mi detour). It was 25 minutes down. The dusk view was awesome. Clear skies all around. Had my timing been better I could watched the sun dop on the summit. When I arrived It was nearly dark. It grew increasingly dark as I strolled down. I parked outside the gate so I wasn't too worried about the park closing. i just wanted to have enough light to walk safely. I got to the park as the last few people were trickling out. I went to the truck and changed my shoes and socks. In that amount of time dark fell completely. I drove away at 5:30 and the gate to the park had not been locked yet. Maybe I could have slowed down a littlte had I known. I am going to repeat this hike the coming weekend so I can enjoy it a bit more. It will also be the first time my wife has EVER agreed to hike with me. Not her thing. I am excited nonetheless. |
