Trip Report: Day 1: We got out late, so we didn't get to camp until after 11:00 PM. Had a couple of beers and went to bed.

Day 2: We stepped out at an early time, since we have to be home the next afternoon. The climb up to the ridgeline took about an hour, then the descent to the canyon floor took about the same. We watered up from the only creek in the wilderness, and stopped for a quick bite. We pulled out again at 11:00, and headed for 25 Yard Springs, which was about 6 miles away. At about 2:45, we started seeing signs of a storm. High wind, dark skies and very cold. we decided to play it safe, so we dropped our packs and spent about an hour setting a hard camp, in case we got stuck. By the time we were done, it was snowing fairly hard. We lit the fire and tucked in to await the worst. It never got much worse, but by about 8:30 PM, we had a coupel of inches of snow, and the temps were down in the 30's. We made dinner, had a bunch of Bailey's and coffee, and went to bed.

Day 3: Rose early, disappointed that the snow had kept us from reaching our goal of Apache Kid Peak. Made a quick breakfast, and headed out the way we had come in. By 9:30, the weather had warmed up enough that almost all the snow was gone. Stopped for lunch at the creek again, adn then huffed and puffed our way up and back down the ridgeline. Got back to the car around 3:00, and headed for home. We'll be back!
