Trip Report: | 7/02/95: (West Fork of Toklat River, 17.5 miles) – We were on the trail by noon this morning and it was a tough start to the day. It took us three hours to climb over a mountain pass in the Wyoming Hills and to get a look at the West Fork of the Toklat River. Hit some snow in the mountain pass and heavy mosquitoes in the lower elevations near the river, particularly in the tundra. The area was beautiful, however, and we made it to the river by 7:30-8pm. Cooked up dinner, then crashed by 11pm tonight. The skies finally cleared to the north this evening and I woke around 3:30pm when the sun rose on the horizon. Weather: Mix of clouds, rain and sun with skies clearing in the late evening. Temperatures to 60’s H, 40’s L. |
