Hike Summary: From Highway 360, hike east in the direction of the ocean. As the trail gets closer to the ocean, it veers to the right toward the stream that feeds the Venus Pool. The pool sits in a little cove located right at the edge of the coast, and it’s impossible to delineate where the freshwater pool ends and the ocean begins. There are several cliffs to jump from, and the experience is exhilarating. There are also several rock ledges, which can be used as spectator seats if watching is more your speed.

This place is beautiful, and ended up being one of my favorite spots while on the island of Maui. The setting is so idyllic that we made a second trip to this same spot later in the day as we were returning to Hana. The first trip was in the middle of the day, and was made special by local keiki (children) selling homemade snow cones out of the front yard located across the street from the trailhead. The second trip was much later in the evening, and was made special by the fact that we had the place to ourselves. My recommendation on which time of day is best would be both.
