Hike Summary: | Brasstown Bald is the highest point in Georgia rising at 4,784 feet above sea level. On a clear day, you can see four states including Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina from the spectacular 360-degree views at the top of the mountain. This short hike to the summit begins at the parking lot and follows a steep, paved 1/2 mile trail to the Visitor Information Center on the Bald. (For those who don't want to walk, a concessionaire operates a shuttle buss from the parking area to the Visitor Information Center for a fee.) On the summit, there is a museum, round overlook with pay view finders, and a theater which offers a short 15 minute presentation on the park. It's a great place to spend a few hours whether you decide to climb the mountain or take the shuttle. |

Brasstown will give you some great views. We were at the top on New Years as the sun came up. Above us was a crystal blue and below us solid white. We watched the coluds get blown out of Neels and Unicoi Gaps. A great trip is the Wagon Train Trail that leads dwn to Young Harris College from the upper parking area of rasstown.
