Hike Summary: | The A.T Approach Trial from Amicalola Falls to Frosty Mountain. I have a goal of hiking the A.T section in Georgia. I feel the need to include the Approach Trail as part of the A.T. I have hiked this trail twice; once solo and once with a group of friends from work. Both times I started from the visitors center at the base of falls. The first hike I followed the Approach Trail the entire way. On the second, I followed the trail along the creek to the base of the falls and up the “Stairway to Heaven”. If you take the “Stairs”, you can pick up the Approach Trail across the parking lot above the falls. The purpose of this hike was to knock out the Approach Trail and to check my conditioning for future hikes. The total distance in and out was 9.4 miles. There are no views and the terrain is up and down. |
