| Hike Summary: | When planning the trip to Vail (hike began on 06/24/07), the idea was to do the Gore/Snow/Deluge Lake loop described on this awesome website (http://www.gorerange.info/ ), but in a one night trip. As you will see, I was not able to do this loop as a result of Snow Pass covered in snow (Snow lake was partially frozen) and I didn't have crampons, axe, or another person. I would recommend this hike to anyone out there - from the trailhead (8,700 ft) to Gore Lake (11,400), there is an elevation gail of 2,700 feet in only 5.25 miles. I climbed to the north ridge between Gore and Snow Lakes to a max altitude of 12,500 feet. That is 3,800 gain /lost in just under 24 hours - but the views were incredible! Will write 2 trip logs later. |
