Hike Summary: Although there is no backcountry camping, the developed sites are spaced out well and offer great views if you can get a lake front site. With 18.1 miles of total trails there is a variety of areas to visit while at this state park.
I started out my hike from the trailhead of Big Oak Trail @ the park access road and made my way towards campgound B. Although it was mid march, much of the trees were bare except for a few that were starting to flower. After using the access road for campground B to get back on the trail, i headed down Campground B trail to pick up Old Plantation Trail. I then picked up Mossey Creek trail with a shoot off to Warrior's Path Trail and back to Mossey Creek. After finishing up Mossey Creek at the park access road I then backtracked to where I began.
The weather was great, low 80's with a gentle breeze off the lake and blue skys that went on forever. I would say that the ideal times to visit and hike this park are spring and fall. Yet if you like to multi-sport the summer is a great time also.
