Hike Summary: | This hike is featured in the April 2007 issue of Backpacker magazine, page 32. Here are some quotes from the article: "These are the most vertical and majestic of NC's mountains." Fox Mountain Guides. "Views as expansive as the Tetons" You'll run ridges, summit rocky knobs, picnic on grassy balds, and be "completely immersed by peaks". Sounds pretty good to me, AND it's close to our parents place in Tn. This sounds like a good hike for June. Some looks around the web also mentioned this warning: Gloucester Gap on FS Rd. 471, where overnight parking is not recommended Some more info: http://www.westcarolina.com/TRAIL_ART_LOEB.HTML |
