I’ve been thinking a lot about the transition from the APFT to the ACFT in the Army. The ACFT seems more holistic, focusing on functional fitness and combat readiness, but I’ve heard mixed reviews. Some say it’s a better measure of overall fitness, while others argue it’s harder to implement and creates challenges, especially for soldiers in remote areas without access to proper equipment.
What do you think? Has the ACFT been a positive change, or do you feel the APFT was sufficient? How has the transition affected your fitness routine or unit cohesion? And for leaders, how do you manage training for such diverse fitness standards?
