    Am planning a thru-hike on the Long Trail this summer and was curious about crossing the Canada border … rules, restrictions, etc. I take it I need a Passport but wonder if I’ll really ever see anyone.

    Another question RE: The Long Trail – how are the bugs in June/July? I’ve heard the may flies/black flies can be aggressive in late May and early June but don’t expect I can hike any sooner than June 10.

    If I were you, I think I’d go northbound at that time of year – although it will probably not make a huge difference with the bugs.
