This is to inform all of a yahoogroups linvillegorge which i own and moderate. the yahoogroup is focused only on the Linvile Wilderness area in western NC and within the Grandrather MOuntain District of the US Forest Service.
Any user of the Linville Wildernsess: climbers, hikers, kayakers, hunters and Geocachers may find the specialized information posted to this group to be helpful. We maintain the most comprehensive and accurate trailmaps available anywhere. On the UNpublished trail map we list 37 trails not recognized by trhe USFS. Some of these are the most spectacular trails in the Southeast US. We try to stay informed on US Porest service policies and actions, we are critics when necessary. We support (and a few members participate in the USFS Adopt-A-trail program.) We are assigned to re-open the spectacular Rockjock trail. Members keep watch on Linville and give updates on trail and road conditions, incidents, rescues, fire and post reports of personal hikes and photos. We are slowly slowly GPS surveying the Linville trails.

The last time I was at Linville Gorge, I couldn’t believe all the trash people left behind in the firepits, campsites, etc. Is this still a problem here? It really ruined the experience for me.

Yeah, what happened to Linville Gorge? That used to be a nice place.
