Hello, what in your opinion would be the most scenic and diverse 20-25 mile section of the Bartram Trail. Thank you.

I have hiked the NC Bartram from Wayah Bald to Cheoah Bald in 2005 and I thought the section from Winding Stair Gap to Cheoah Bald was really great with lots of, streams, waterfalls, and cascades along the way. Cheoah Bald provides a superb panoramic view. It was a bit steep though!

I agree. You should also check the section that takes you over Rabun Bald in Georgia. Views are outstanding in all directions.

Both Cheoah and Rabun Bald are solid, but I’d do Cheoah first – it’s more challenging, but the mountains are higher and more dramatic.

Cheoah Bald is pretty awesome. I’d hike the section through the Nantahala National Forest and finish here.

Cheoah has 180 degree views, Rabun has 360 degree views (from a fire tower). If you are judging a hike by the views – pick Rabun. If you are making the call based on trail traffic – pick Cheoah. You have to really work to get to the summit – especially if you start from the NOC in Wesser, NC.
