Let me know how it goes. I hiked here back in ’97 and there were tons of blowdowns. I’m curious how much it imporved since then and if it’s worth a trip back.

John Ray, et al. has Tusquitee Bald in one of his guidebooks so maybe enough people have traveled the area now that things are better.

will do, we’re heading up first weekend of November–we just got back from hiking the Teton Crest Trail (well part of it) Man what a trip! I’ve got the guidebooks and have been in communication with the author. They had a hiking club maintain the Fires Creek trail, but they stopped two years ago. We’re doing a 6 miles loop. Up Far Bald up to the rim trail and down another trail back to FS340. Looking forward to it, hopefullly we’ll get some snow–doubtful but possible!!!

For Birdshooter—Thanks for your web site “n2backpacking”. More info on that site than any other that I have found. I’m a novice BP’er. Just have trouble finding enough time. You’ve heard that one before. I’m not far from retirement and will find more time soon.
    Thanks

Thanks, and glad you enjoy it. If you are also on the Tusquitee Bald trip .. best wishes. I found the link to the John Ray and Malcolm Skove guidebook on the Fires Creek Trail which is very detailed. There is a link to contact them at: https://n2backpacking.com/long_trails/bt/bt_books.htm They are also authors of the Bartram Trail guides and can probably answer any questions you have.

No, I’m not on the trip. I’m just a drive by poster. I am very interested in doing the Georgia Bartram trail. It’s a good length for my first multiday hike, easy access from my north ATL home and doesn’t appear to be too strenuous. I’ll get the two small guide books and take a look. Thanks

Hey, how did the Tusquitee Bald trip go? I have to say, the trail was so difficult the last time I was there that I am extremely curious.
