Hi I am doing some research…. In your opinions, which is considered the most desolate section of Appalacian Trail and how long is that section of trail before one runs into “civilization”? Thanks
The A.T. is not that desolate place to begin with. however the “100 mile wilderness” in maine is great, no road crossings for 100 miles with all the lakes and ponds you can handle. There in not usually a shortage of people there however unless you decide to hike it in the winter.
