Is there a guidebook out there that covers Panthertown Valley? I saw your photos on the website but have not been able to find a good trail book for the area. Thank You. JE

Hi, I saw your note and to my knowledge the best source of information on the Panthertown Valley area is a map a guide put together that is sold in some of the outfitters in the area …. like the Happy Hiker in Cashiers. That is probably your best bet. Good luck. It’s a great place.

Panthertown was only recently opened to the public having been a property of Duke Power for many years, so it is seldom mentioned in many of the guidebooks on the market. Your best bet is to pick up a map in Cashiers. The trails are not marked, so I highly recommend a compass or gps in addition to the map (available at the Happy Hiker as stated above.)

Yes, Pathertown Valley is very good (albiet increasingly crowded.) But most of the hikes in the area are easy to moderate (on the main trails anyway.) Make sure you take a map. There are no signs in the wilderness and there are a bunch of intersecting trails.

Forgot to mention, you can also probably find a map in Highlands at one of the stores there.
