Hike Summary: This hike follows an old logging road all the way to the primitive campground located on the Toxaway River and Lake Jocassee. There are cement picnic tables and fire pits right along the river. There are no other facilities – no water, power, or toilets. There is plenty of level tent sites and finding firewood wasn’t a problem.

The trail goes through the woods the entire time with one small stream crossing. It is up and down the entire route in and out. It took us right at 3 ½ hours on the trip in and the trip out.

We did not see any wildlife but I am sure they are out there because we saw a lot of deer tracks and scat from other animals.

Beautiful views, both along the trail and at the campground. The river or the lake either one would be a great place to swim in warmer weather.
