Looking for help planning a 3 day hike in mid November. Completed the AT to Standing Indian, hiked the Coosa Backcountry, FT. Mtn. Would like feedback on Benton Mackaye, and Bartram trails. Willing to hike "strenuous" to get the good views.

Hopefully your hike went well. That entire area is good. We are doing the JMT, Tn version during Thanksgiving. I've hiked this many times as a kid and didn't even realize really what I was doing. I'm looking forward to a reunion with this trail and the river.

The bridge at the Hiwassee River Power house is closed for renovation for the next month or two. It does not affect the BMT or JMT's in Tn however it is a popular area.

Just past Wildcat Creek you'll see an arrow pointing to the right, apparently instructing you to climb up a small hill with exposed roots, the trail actually begins a series of switchbacks up the side of McCulley Mount (I think that's the name). If you continue up the creek and not go the switchback way, you'll end up on the trail and I prefer this route as there are some good rock outcroppings and boulders if you're into that sort of activity :) . Trail maintenance in Dec 07 fell off a bit beginning in the narrows, but still in good shape and there are some great overlooks of the river in the narrows.
