Check out Tarptent.com and sixmoondesigns.com, both offer a sub 2lb tent that has a fir amount of space for the weight and both have great customer support

I haven't used the shuttle service from BMO but the outfitters are a great help and I'd expect the same out of their shuttle service

The A.T. is not that desolate place to begin with. however the "100 mile wilderness" in maine is great, no road crossings for 100 miles with all the lakes and ponds you can handle. There in not usually a shortage of people there however unless you decide to hike it in the winter.

haha, this is a great topic. This year on my thru-hike of the At i only showered @ Kinkora and in Pearisburg before getting a room in Glasgow, Va 770 miles in. after that it was too hot and i was showering about every 7-10 days!
