Walk In The Woods Filming Begins

Passionate about the Appalachain Trail?  Live in the Southeast (particularly in Atlanta or North Georgia)?  Then this is your big chance to hang with Rob and Nick - they just started filming a Walk In The Woods based on Bill Bryson's A.T. memoir.   The movie is due for release in November 2015, and filming at The Lodge in Amicalola State Park began on 4/22/14.  Extra's casting is reportedly underway per this article in the Gainesville Times, and if your not the Trail Hard type - there's scenes being shot in Atlanta which explains why Robert Redford keeps showing up at Davio's in Phipps Plaza in Buckhead. 13 Year Old Girl Completes The Triple Crown

The Triple Crown consists of the Appalachian Trail (2,181 miles), the Continental Divide Trail (3,092 miles), and the Pacific Crest Trail (2,652-mile). The Movie Wild And Reece Witherspoon’s Early 90’s Backpacking Look

The filming of the movie Wild has begun, and both Cheryl Strayed and Reese Witherspoon are tweeting photos from the set.  As you recall, the movie is based on Stayed's best selling book which chronicles her adventures (or mis-adventures) on the Pacific Crest Trail in 1995.  The wardrobe team got this one right, because they have Witherspoon decked out in a vintage external frame backpack and old school leather hiking boots (complete with colored laces). Reese Witherspoon Set To Star In Wild, A Story Of Discovery On The Pacfic Crest Trail

  Wild, a best-selling book of Cheryl Strayed’s journey on the Pacific Crest Trail is about to become a movie staring Reese Withersoon.  HollywoodReporter.com reports that ...    "Fox Searchlight has acquired worldwide rights to Wild, a screen adaptation of Cheryl Strayed’s best-selling memoir that will star Reese Witherspoon.  The film is scheduled to begin production in the late fall once a director is chosen and will be overseen by Fox Searchlight Pictures president of production Claudia Lewis and senior vp production David Greenbaum." The John Muir Trail documentary movie – free thanks to PBS and UNC-TV

Just heard about this documentary that was shot on the John Muir Trail. It's #1 on my list of long trails to do and traverses some spectacular scenery in  Yosemite, Kings Canyon, and Sequoia National Parks. The DVD was released in April 2012 and follows a group of students from the Southeast as they walk the 220 mile Trail in the High Sierra of California. Pacific Crest Trail DVD Just Released

Just got this DVD in the mail yesterday about the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) and look forward to watching it.  It's received solid reviews from some respected members of the Trail community.  So I made the purchase.  I'm sure it will spark a desire to do another thru-hike - although taking six months off to walk in the woods will not fly the Mrs.! Follow a half dozen of the 300 or so hikers who attempt a Pacific Crest Trail thru-hike every year.
