Best Hike Description: Highlights: -pulled over by undercover DEA in the middle of nowhere UTAH -Angel's Landing summit arguably the most beautiful hike I've ever done -overniting off-trail in the front yard of a park ranger post (and paying for it) -sunrise over the CO river from Clear Creek Trail -feeling on top of the world after killing the climb up the South Rim from Indian Gardens -missing the flight out of Vegas 'cause my partner wrote down the dep time in East Coast Daylight Saving time -red eye flight back home included a social drunkfest at Long Beach Airport -got back too late to go home and so reported to work straight from the airport (and with my dusty and dirty pack/supplies)
A Memorable Trail Moment: Grand Canyon NP R2R (#2) July 2012 Hiking into Phantom Ranch at around 1030am to see the camp thermometer read over 120degrees. And feeling great.
Dumbest Trail Move: Grand Canyon NP R2R/Zion NP 2008 Made camp and headed out to that afternoon's quick hike. Some two or three hours later up Hidden Canyon, I realize that I no longer have the car keys to our rental. Some in the group split to search back around our camp while the rest of us frisked every foot of our hike all the way back to camp w/ no luck. I've just set out to retrace our hike from camp when I notice that the back door to our car is wide open. Thank goodness somebody found those keys ..... even if my campmates deservedly let me suffer a while longer afterwards!
Trails That I Want To Hike: VT's Long Trail NC's Black Mtn Crest Trail Any part of the AT, Cont Divide, PCT Any that could involve packrafting Anything in New Zealand, Scotland, Patagonia, Torres del Paine whatever else is available and I can get to
